A TEENAGE horse rider has been hospitalised after an early-morning accident at Broadmeadow Racecourse.

Emergency services were called to the racecourse about 4.30am Tuesday to reports a rider had come off a horse and the animal had fallen on top of the person.
On arrival at the scene they found a 19-year-old woman had been injured in the fall, she was wearing a helmet at the time which reduced the impact of the incident.
The teenager suffered hip injuries and was taken by ambulance to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
