Hemi Demi Semi rode an early bump from box four then chased down the leader in the back straight on the way to a three-length victory in the 5th grade 515m race. It was his second victory in eight starts.
Midnight Sea earlier broke through at her seventh start in the 400m maiden. She railed well from box two after an average start to quickly take over in front and cruise to a 4.75-length win.
"All the dogs have been trialling well lately but we just haven't had any luck, so it's good when it swings around," Chris said. "In the field, Hemi Demi Semi has been a bit shy and not running what he runs in trials.
"We trialled him there the other night and went really good, a lot better than that race, but he just lacks that early speed and that confidence in the field.
"But he's getting a bit older now and we've pushed him back over further to give him time to settle into his runs and he's going really good.
"Midnight Sea was very slow to get going, to get her chasing and racing right.
"She's going good now but early on we were doubtful she'd ever make the track because she was switching off.
"But with a bit of age, and we just kept putting her around, and she's more of a race dog now."
The Kedwells have Lake Road (box eight) in race four and Hunter Street in the eighth (six) at The Gardens on Saturday night. Chris said "they would need a lot of luck from bad boxes".
