Probationary constables marched off at Goulburn on Friday, with NSW Police announcing at the same time how many of the greenhorn officers would go to each police district.
Ms Hornery said she would reach out to NSW Police Minister David Elliott over the allocations.
Mr Elliott said on Friday that NSW Police had been "strengthened by investment from the NSW Government, including the delivery of 1500 additional officers over four years and the commitment to a $60 million upgrade to Goulburn police academy."
Ms Hornery pointed to last week's armed hold-up at Henny Penny in Wallsend to argue the Newcastle City Police District, which makes up over half of the electorate, needed more bodies.
"It is disappointing to see that despite crime being on the rise in our area that no new recruits are being sent our way to bolster our numbers," she said.
"We have seen a significant rise in crimes involving guns in our area in the last few months and the community is concerned.
"When I speak with local officers they tell me of their massive caseloads and the problems with the large amount of officers on sick or stress leave."
The allocations will send 23 officers into the Northern region, which encompasses the Hunter.
Hunter Valley command received two probationary constables, with another two bound for both Port Stephens-Hunter and Lake Macquarie commands. Manning-Great Lakes added one officer. The Central Coast fared better, with five graduates headed to Brisbane Water and six to Tuggerah Lakes.
