Three men have made it ashore overnight after their vessel capsized between Merewether Beach and The Cliff in rough surf conditions, which are expected to stay until Sunday.

NSW Police were called to Merewether around 8.20pm Friday after reports a boat had beached on the sand. A spokesperson said three men made it ashore and were uninjured.
The boat was stranded on the sand until mid-morning Saturday, before it was hauled off the sand at Dixon Park Beach.
Crowdy Head and Sydney ocean buoys were recording waves between 2.7m and 3.5m on Saturday morning, as a strong southerly change whipped up a large swell that is expected to batter the beaches this weekend.
The swell was generated by a deep low pressure system moving through the Tasman Sea toward New Zealand, followed by a high pressure ridge across NSW. A hazardous surf warning has been issued for the state, and swell conditions are expected to be dangerous for rock fishers, boaters and swimmers over the weekend.
A spokesperson for the Bureau of Meteorology said rough surf conditions were likely to linger on Sunday, though with a change to light winds and warm and sunny conditions.
Police have advised swimmers and surfers to exercise caution in the immediate area.
