A 24 year-old man was expected to face court on Saturday over the incident, which police say happened around 11pm Friday night at Lemon Tree Passage.
Port Stephens-Hunter police district officers were called to a home on Cambridge Street after a complaint of loud music. Police said they spoke with a woman there before leaving the scene, only to return around thirty minutes later for another noise complaint. The occupants turned the music down, police said, and officers left the scene before receiving a third complaint call for the same property a short time later.
The occupants were then issued with a formal direction to keep the noise down, but as they left the scene police allege they heard a 24-year-old man threatening the occupant of the house.
The man then walked into the front yard of the home approaching the officers, allegedly armed with a knife.
Police told the man to drop the knife, but they allege he failed to comply and a taser was deployed. The man was arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace police station where he was charged with two counts of intimidation and being armed with intent.
He was refused bail and was expected to front Newcastle Local Court on Saturday.
