
Merewether's Rose Davies narrowly missed a medal at the 2021 Sydney Track Classic but kept up to speed with the top four runners until the start of the last lap.
Davies, 21, ended up fifth overall but fourth in the women's national 5000 metres final at Homebush on Saturday night.

The Australian 10,000m champion, who didn't finish the recent Box Hill Burn because of plantar fasciitis issues, stopped the clock at 15 minutes and 37.02 seconds.
Jenny Blundell (15:25.84) claimed the national 5000m title. Isobel Batt-Doyle (15:26.60) and Genevieve Gregson (15:27.43) were second and third respectively in the Aussie standings.
Canadian Games representative Andrea Seccafien (15:25.62) won the race.
Meanwhile, Belmont North's Ashlyn Blackstock (49.79m) recorded an under-20 world championships qualifier for discus.
