Daniel Irwin, of Altitude Real Estate Warners Bay, marketed the spacious six-bedroom home with a lagoon-style swimming pool at 17 Bentley Street with a guide of $1.9 million.
It attracted four registered bidders - three local and an Australian based in the United Kingdom who bid over the phone to secure the property sight unseen for a whopping $2.725 million. The first bid of $1.9 million was made by the eventual purchaser and the home was secured after 56 bids.
According to Australian Property Monitors data, the previous highest residential sale for Redhead was $2.438 million paid for a luxurious four-bedroom, four-bathroom house at 7 Ocean Street in September last year. The only other sale to have broken $2 million for the beachside suburb was when $2.015 million was paid in December for a stunningly renovated property at 6 Beach Road.
"This home was in the old, new estate," Mr Irwin said. "When we priced it, the only comparable sales we had were $1.4 million, $1.7 million, $1.9 million and another around $2 million on Beach Road, which is in what is considered a premium area.
"The house was just amazing, from the yellow door to the parquetry chocolate flooring. Then six genuine bedrooms plus study. Every person that came through went 'Wow'."
APM data shows the median sale price for Redhead rose over $1 million mark for the first time last year. It was $1.09 million for 40 sales, up from $950,000 for 36 sales in 2019. The previous highest median was $980,000 for 39 sales in 2018.
