The former NRL player joined forces with the likes of Jade Porter, Warren Schillings and many others to assist the Northern Hawks.
Tighe intended to captain-coach Awabakal last year but COVID-19 hampered those plans.
That group has now essentially combined with the old Nelson Bay, who were already slowly re-entering the Newcastle Rugby League ranks.
So the Northern Hawks have fielded sides in reserve grade and under 19s, helping fill the void left by Central Coast clubs Wyong and The Entrance who only have firsts.
Based out of Tomaree, the Northern Hawks enjoyed an undefeated start to the season over the weekend following a 22-all draw with Central in reserves and 20-16 victory in under 19s.
* ALAN Munro is free to play against Lakes at home on Friday after taking an early guilty plea this week.
The Entrance player opted not to front the Newcastle RL judiciary and risk being suspended for a game.
He was put on report for a dangerous tackle midway through the first half of the Tigers' 22-12 win over Macquarie at The Entrance on Sunday.
* JASON Keelan has been named in the halves to replace injured Souths captain Ryan Glanville (pectoral).
* MUSWELLBROOK-born and Rams junior Fletcher Baker has again been named for the Sydney Roosters, who host the NZ Warriors at the SCG on Sunday. He scored a try on NRL debut in round two and played against the Rabbitohs last weekend.
