SAFADO will remain in NSW to head a seven-strong team for Newcastle trainer Kris Lees in the last Provincial Championships qualifier (1400 metres) at Kembla Grange on Saturday.

The six-year-old gelding had also accepted north of the state border at Eagle Farm but Lees opted to head south trying to secure another spot in this month's decider.

"The prizemoney [$150,000] is too good to pass up. He ran his best race for some time when runner-up on the Kensington track a fortnight ago. It's the last of the qualifiers, so all seven will run," Lees told his website.
Safado ($7) was second favourite with TAB fixed odds on Friday, behind stablemate Game Of Thorns ($6.50).
Darleb, Azarmin, Regimental Band, Siesta Key and Elegant Grace round out Lees' contingent.
Cristal Breeze, Animate, Zeftabrook and Loch Lomond are already through to the main $500,000 event at Randwick on April 17.
Newcastle trainers Paul Perry and Nathan Doyle have tickets for Pandano and Electric Girl respectively. They race La Jolie Fille and Dreaming Of Gold at Kembla Grange this weekend.
