Drug debt led to kidnapping, rape

A MAN who kidnapped a woman from her home over a $750 drug debt and then detained her at his Telarah unit where he and his girlfriend raped her has pleaded guilty in Newcastle Local Court.
Douglas Dixon, 31, appeared in Newcastle Local Court via audio visual link from Cessnock Correctional Centre on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual assault in company and inflict actual bodily harm.
Other charges including supplying a prohibited drug will be taken into account when Dixon is sentenced in Newcastle District Court later in the year. According to court documents, the 28-year-old woman was abducted in April, 2020, over a drug debt and then held at a unit in Telarah before she managed to raise the alarm. A woman, 22, has also pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault in company and inflict actual bodily harm and will be sentenced in June.
