The Newcastle Herald understands the opponents had a physical altercation in the car park after the game.
It is believed Charlestown's Regan Lundy and Broadmeadow's Keanu Moore were the players involved at Lisle Carr Oval on Saturday.
IN NEWS TODAY:
Northern NSW Football operations manager Liam Bentley confirmed on Monday that the governing body was aware of an incident from the round-three fixture and they had been in contact with each club.
"We've just heard about it at the moment, but it's a serious enough incident for us to make contact with the clubs before we take the next steps," Bentley said.
NNSWF are expected to review submissions from both Azzurri and Magic this week before "seeing where it sits in line with the rest of our judicial processes".
The matter may get passed onto a disciplinary committee before deciding if any further action is taken.
Without referencing this specific case, Bentley said NNSWF "take any violence on or around the pitch extremely seriously ... to make sure we punish the behaviour we don't like in football appropriately".
Lundy will already be sidelined for Charlestown this weekend after receiving an automatic one-week suspension for a red card handed out during the game in question.
He was sent off just 15 minutes into the encounter after a challenge on Moore in midfield.
Moore, who was shown a yellow card, eventually scored the match-winner for Broadmeadow in stoppage time.
Magic beat Azzurri 1-0 to remain undefeated in second spot on the competition ladder.
Broadmeadow's Jon Griffiths was also given his marching orders for a second booking in the 21st minute, meaning both sides played with 10 men for most of the afternoon.
Griffiths will miss Magic hosting Weston this Sunday.
The Bears are minus Liam Wilson, who is suspended because of his own red-card offence from the weekend.
Charlestown, who have a 1-1 win-loss record in 2021, are away to leaders Maitland in round four.
