A MAN is in critical condition after a car he was driving burst into flames, careening off the road and into a shed.

Emergency services were called to reports of a vehicle crashed into a property on Addison Street, Beresfield about 11.30pm Monday.
According to witness reports the car, being driven by a 21-year-old man, was already on fire when it left the road and made impact with the shed.
IN THE NEWS:
Three paramedic crews were sent to the scene, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and two fire engines from Tarro and East Maitland.
The man suffered significant injuries during the incident, including burns to his legs, buttocks and face.
He was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
It took fire crews just over an hour to douse the blaze. The cause of the accident will now be investigated.
