Harris was shown a straight red card in the 25th minute, with Magic ahead 2-0, after Joshua Winiarczyk was injured in a three-way lunge for the ball near the touchline. Unbeaten leaders Broadmeadow went on to win the game 4-0 with all goals to Sam Walker.
There were fears Winiarczyk had a broken leg and he was taken to hospital for X-rays, which cleared him of a fracture.
Magic coach Damian Zane believed footage of the incident showed Winiarczyk's injury was the result of contact from the player's teammate, Iman Akram, who also lunged in with a boot to try to win possession.
Zane was unsure if the club could contest the automatic one-game suspension or the severity of a potential longer ban against Harris and he was in discussions with Magic officials on Tuesday.
Valentine coach Adam Hughes did not believe the damage was from friendly fire.
"The incident itself was horrific," he said. "His leg was sideways. From the angle I saw it, I thought his leg was broken. Lucky for him, he has pulled up OK."
Hughes said Winiarczyk had bad bone bruising but he was unsure when he would return.
"It might only be something like five weeks rather than a season. Hopefully we see him back because he is a good young kid."
"He had started every match at right wing. Another young one, a local boy."
The loss left Valentine without a point after four rounds. They play Charlestown at Lisle Carr Oval on Sunday in their postponed round-one game.
"It has been a mixed bag. In the first couple of games, our finishing wasn't there. We didn't click as a team," Hughes said.
"If we had scored the goals, we would have had a chance to take points. We should have really.
"Adamstown was just a bad day. It was 4-3 and I said let's go for it. If we lose 5-3 or 6-3, big deal.
"We went for it and they scored two goals in the last five minutes which blew out the scoreline.
"We didn't start the game well, that was our problem.
"Then Sunday, there were times when we looked OK and had a few chances.
"We just have to keep working on our combination play up front and a bit of defensive stuff.
"We probably should have some points on the board, but we haven't. You have to keep chipping away.
"Getting confidence back in the boys is the big thing."
