Surf conditions are expected to pick up for today and wind should be back to offshore for the early morning. Tides low first up and some good banks about. Not a great deal of variation in the tides today. Swell from the SSE at 1m to 2m. Winds light and variable West to S/W tending South. Banks off Cliff and Dixon handling conditions best and few rights off the rocks at Merewether. Cowrie on afternoon high. Redhead, Frenchmans and Moonie to the south. Samurai and Buribi up at Port Stephens. Nobbys, Bar Beach and Merewether are patrolled along with ocean baths. Water temp 19C. - Dave Anderson

HUNTER BOATING
Winds South to southwesterly 10 to 15 knots becoming variable about 10 knots in the morning. Seas 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing below 1 metre during the morning. Swell Southerly 2 to 2.5 metres. Weather Partly cloudy. Caution Surf conditions in the afternoon and evening may be more powerful than they appear and are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.
