If you asked former Canterbury Bulldogs premiership-winning captain Andrew Ryan to come up with his own perfect job description in rugby league, he once said his new full-time gig at the Newcastle Knights would just about cover it.
Ryan, who has been working with the NRL since his retirement in 2011, was drafted in by coach Adam O'Brien last year to fill an all-encompassing role that will see him involved in pathways coaching and development, player welfare across the club and elite level coaching.
He officially finished up his job as a player transition manager with the NRL earlier this year before starting fulltime with the Knights on January 4, but will be in and around the club whenever he can before then.
But before he became one of Newcastle's men of steel, he was once an arch rival in one of the club's greatest ever games. Ryan joins Toohey's News host Barry Toohey in episode 12 this week.
