Belswans are the only Northern League One side to make the final eight in the NNSW section of the nationwide knockout. They defeated NPL side Adamstown 4-1 to make the quarter-finals, from which two clubs will qualify for the main draw.
Assistant coach Mick Stafford said injuries from the win have hurt their league season. They sit fourth, 12 points off leaders New Lambton. Stafford, though, said the club were focused on the cup and showing their potential for a rise to the NPL, if and when promotion-relegation returns.
"We're really excited about it and we're going to throw everything at it to try and get the club somewhere special," Stafford said. "We were going really well until the cup game, and then we lost two on the trot. It wore us out a bit I think. It cost us, but we're going to go full tilt at this one as well."
He said Cameron Lodge (suspended) was still out but captain Mark Finlayson was back from suspension, while Joel Nicholson, Kane Woolston and Corey Wilson will likely return from injury.
He said experienced top-division players, like Mitchell Cook, Cameron Sullini, Chris Gazzard and Clayton Poole, were pushing the team to cause another upset.
"The older guys want to achieve something because we've won Northern League One a couple of times so we want something different," he said. "They are really keen for a crack at Weston."
"We're interested to see how we go. The teams in our comp like Cooks Hill and New Lambton, I think they would give a team a game up there."
He said the club were working hard on their youth development and facilities in preparation for a run at the NPL.
