MEREWETHER diver Sam Fricker has put himself in the best possible position to secure a ticket to Tokyo and make his Olympic debut after claiming a silver medal at the Australian Championships.

The 19-year-old finished second in the men's 10 metre platform at the national meet, which doubles as nomination trials for the Games.
Australia previously earned two Olympic quota spots for that event.
This means Fricker and winner Cassiel Rousseau are likely to be officially named in the team on Tuesday.
Fricker scored 1198.65 points from his 18 dives, culminating in Friday's final at Homebush.
Rousseau (1395.05) was the clear leader. Jaxon Bowshire (936.65) ended up third.
Two-time Commonwealth Games gold medalist Domonic Bedggood withdrew from the competition earlier this week.
Fricker, a former Hunter School of Performing Arts student who started his diving career at Lambton Pool, maintained second position from the opening two sessions on Wednesday.
Elsewhere at the Diving Australia titles on Friday, Esther Qin (982.15) edged out Anabelle Smith (978.60) and Maddison Keeney (954.35) in the women's 3m springboard. The 1m deciders went the way of Vladimir Rudenko (men's) and Sophie Johnson (women's).
Thursday saw Melissa Wu (women's 10m platform) and Shixin Li (men's 3m springboard) reign supreme.
