Robinson Property's Mike Flook has been guiding $870,000 for 9 McMichael Street, which goes under the hammer at 2.15pm.
The contemporary home is positioned on a block 268 square metres in size within walking distance of cycleways, the harbour and Newcastle CBD.
"We've had plenty of interest from locals as well as people from as far as Canberra and Sydney," Mr Flook said.

Maryville's median house sale price has been on the rise since 2012. It increased from $762,500 for 28 sales in 2019 to $820,000 for 27 sales last year. After the first seven sales this year the median was $860,000.
Robinson Property's Tony Reville will take a four-bedroom residence with a separate retreat on 938 square metres of land at 28 Dumaresq Street in Hamilton East to auction on Saturday at 3pm.
It has been marketed with a guide of $2.5 million. He also has a five-bedroom house at 101 Morgan Street in Merewether set for auction at midday with a guide of $2 million.
A three-bedroom home at 30 Cathrine Street in Kotara South has reportedly attracted 93 groups ahead of its auction at 2.30pm. The property has been marketed by Belle Property Lake Macquarie with a guide of $700,000.
Belle Property also have a five-bedroom residence with lake views at 19 Mulimbah Street, Eleebana set for auction at 10.30am with a guide believed to be around $1.8 million.
