Hunter Valley Wine and Food Festival
The month-long 2021 Hunter Valley Wine and Food Festival is in full swing and there is plenty to see and do this weekend.
Hunter Valley Wine & Beer Festival, Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley (Saturday)
This year's festival is split into two ticketed sessions: 11am to 2pm and 3pm to 6pm. Advance purchase tickets are $15 per person ($25 on the day) through Moshtix (booking fees apply). Children have free access to the event when accompanying parents. Tastings are available for $2 each (30ml wine, 75ml beer/cider) and can be purchased on the day.
Wandin Estate Wine and Food Pairings (Saturday and Sunday, noon to 2.30pm)
Your choice of seafood and three semillons, or Upper Hunter wagyu and three shiraz vintages. $50 per person.
Hungerford Hill Epic Tasting (Saturday, 11am to 3pm)
A mini-degustation of Hungerford Hill wines matched to bite-sized dishes created by two-hatted restaurant Muse. $60 per person.
Ridgeview Ocean to Paddock (Saturday, 6pm)
A journey from the ocean to the paddock highlighting outstanding local and homegrown produce. Canapes and bubbles followed by a seven-course degustation with matching wines. $150 per person.
Margan Wines Art of Aperitivo (Saturday, 5.30pm to 8.30pm)
Celebrate the 'Art of the Aperitivo' with a vermouth cocktail masterclass followed by a five-course degustation dinner. $150 per person.
Wines of the Decade from the Cellars of First Creek (Saturday, 7pm)
Hosted by the Silkman Family with culinary delights from executive chef Michael Elwing and his team. $180 per person.
Wine House Masterclass with Stuart Hordern (Saturday, 11.30am to 12.30pm)
$98 per person.
Thomas Wines - The Distinguished Dozen - Kiss Shiraz (Saturday, 10.30am)
An in-depth look at shiraz with informal discussions around the wines with Thommo, a sumptuous tasting plate paired with 12 wines, and lunch in the winery afterwards by chef Andy Wright. $195 per person.
1813 Wines Fireside Lunch 1813 (Sunday, noon to 3pm)
Set on Tinonee Vineyard Estate in the picturesque Broke Fordwich region. Enjoy entrees under the peppercorn tree before sitting down to a feast-style menu prepared by chef Thomas Boyd. $150 per person.
Bimbadgen Estate Winter "Meet The Makers" Lunch (Sunday, noon to 4pm)
A lazy, long lunch at Esca restaurant hosted by chief winemaker Richard Done and assistant winemaker Sam Boyd. Arrive to fireside canapes and vintage blanc de blancs before enjoying a behind the scenes look through the winery and discussion on the 2021 Vintage. Guests will then head to Esca for a five-course degustation menu crafted by executive chef Nick Samaras. Lunch will be matched to a series of back vintage wines and private releases. $180 per person.
