Ms Tonks said the four-bedroom, three-bathroom residence was sent out to their database. Seven parties were shown through and the sold sticker up within 24 hours.
"This is a great reflection on how the Merewether market is still holding up," Ms Tonks said.
"The property is a fabulous eight-year old home with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a pool. It was architecturally designed by Shac and built by Craig Marriott."
A new street record has been established at auction for Ashford Parade in Merewether Heights. Simon Wall Property marketed the four-bedroom, two-bathroom house at 16 Ashford Parade (pictured top right) with a guide of $1.15 million. It attracted 63 buyers through inspections and seven registered bidders at auction on June 19. The home sold under the hammer for $1.34 million.
A three-bedroom circa 1939 Art Deco house at 31 Stewart Avenue, Hamilton East (pictured bottom right) that was listed by First National Newcastle City with a guide of $1.3 million to $1.4 million has sold for $1.475 million after only seven days on the market. It was scheduled to go to auction on July 10.
There were four registered bidders for a two-bedroom terrace at 11 Brien Street in The Junction that First National took to auction last Saturday with a guide of $640,000 to $690,000. It sold under the hammer for $715,000.
A four-bedroom house at 53 Stevenson Avenue in Mayfield West marketed by First National attracted six registered bidders at auction last weekend and was secured for $861,500.
An Adamstown Heights home described by marketing agent Mike Flook, of Robinson Property, as a one-of-a-kind property at 21 City Road went to auction on Saturday with a guide of $890,000 and sold under the hammer for $1.135 million. The home had an impressive extension built mainly from recycled materials sourced from throughout the city, including the A frame of the Brown Street Congregational Church.
There was reportedly spirited bidding for a three-bedroom house at 59 Lockyer Street in Adamstown which was listed through Robinson Property and sold under the hammer for an undisclosed price that the Newcastle Herald believes was in excess of $1.7 million.
