POPULAR pub The Prince of Merewether has been fined $5000 for breaching COVID-19 public health orders, one of more than 100 infringements across the state in 24 hours over the weekend.

Police conducting routine business checks on Saturday night went to the Morgan Street hotel about 9pm and found that the number of patrons inside clearly exceeded the venue's designated capacity.
The pub was hit with a $5000 fine.
Meanwhile, on Friday night police fined six young people who were drinking and celebrating an 18th birthday party at a house at The Entrance.
Across the state, police have issued more than 100 Penalty Infringement Notices (PINs) for breaches of the Public Health Act in 24 hours, including 30 related to three separate gatherings.
Police say they received information about 3.30pm on Saturday that a group had gathered at a premises on Marrickville Road, Marrickville.
Police attended and found 15 men sitting around a table playing cards in a smoke-filled room.
The men - aged between 56 and 89 - were all issued $1000 PINs for failing to comply with noticed direction 7/8/9 COVID-19 and directed to return home.
As well as that police broke up an 18th birthday party at Auburn and five men playing video games in a garage at Merrylands West.
State Emergency Operations Controller, Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys, said people were still making a conscious decision to not stay at home and not comply with the Public Health Orders.
"These examples highlight incredibly selfish and irresponsible behaviour, which we cannot and will not tolerate," he said.
