Magic have drawn 1-1 and 0-0 with second-last Adamstown and bottom side Valentine respectively in the past fortnight to leave themselves third on 31 points, four off leaders Lambton and three shy of Maitland.
However, they still have the clash at Weston Park in hand on the top two before meeting both and fourth-placed Edgeworth (28 points) in the final three rounds.
"After all that's happened, it's still all in our hands, which is amazing," said Zane, who took Edgeworth to four consecutive premierships. "We win four games and we win the comp."
He believed his side could have had two penalties on Sunday against Valentine but said "in the end, we weren't hungry enough".
"If you are waiting on penalty calls to win a game, you probably don't deserve it," he said. "We were in good form and scoring goals for fun but then we stopped playing and the rest of the comp got playing."
Magic face a Weston side sitting four points outside the top five and needing a win to revive their top-five hopes.
"We just need to be a bit hungrier to want to score," Zane said. "And you're not going to score the perfect goals at the moment. The fields and the weather aren't allowing it. Whoever finds a way is going to win."
Magic have lost Jack Simmons, who left for trials in Queensland last week.
