Fixtures scheduled at Hunter Ice Skating Stadium for this weekend, a double header against the Sydney Ice Dogs on Saturday and Canberra Brave on Sunday, and August 7 won't go ahead.
The official announcement was made on Tuesday because of the state's ongoing coronavirus restrictions.
New dates have yet to be announced but Northstars officials are hopeful of catching up matches later in the year. Newcastle last played on June 20.
"Thank you to all our fans and sponsors for your understanding and patience during this time," the Northstars released in a statement.
The McCormack Cup, a tri-series involving just NSW and ACT clubs, was introduced in 2021 after the Australian Ice Hockey League was cancelled for a second straight season.
