Bourke, who has just five horses in work, has trained three doubles and seven winners in total across the past four weeks at Newcastle.
He has another two chances on Friday night in Que Sera (race four) and Illgiveuadaisyaday (two), but both have the extreme outside draw in gate eight.
Maitland driver Dan Morgan has become the regular driver for Bourke since his son, Andrew, moved to work in the Sydney stables of Kevin Pizzuto. Morgan again has the reins on Friday night.
Que Sera has featured in two of the recent doubles, including last week when she came three wide to win in 1:54:7. Illgiveuadaisyaday was second to Rocknroll Swinger last week after winning two weeks earlier.
Bourke hoped Que Sera could work home off early speed in her race.
"We've had a bit of luck with the draws, but not this week," Bourke said.
"Que Sera, she hasn't got any gate speed anyway, but she can hold a more handy spot if she draws in closer."
Illgiveuadaisyaday has returned to top form, winning at Menangle in June then again at Newcastle in between two seconds.
"During the last outbreak we sent her down to Sydney and she got crook," Bourke said. "It took her a fair bit of time to get back from that, but we always thought she was handy.
"She's up against the same one that beat her last week [Rocknroll Swinger] and it's drawn better than us, so it will be hard to beat again."
