Master Catch, which McDonald bred and owns, was transferred to Menangle trainer Jack Trainor's stable after a last-start win at Newcastle on August 6 and he lines up in heat two of a monthly series at the Sydney track on Saturday night.

The six-year-old is highly rated for the series, which offers starts to horses without a win in a race valued above $18,000. Master Catch has won a country series final but those races are excluded.

The only setback is an extreme outside draw.

"After he won, I wanted him to go to the heats and final of this series. It was a good race for him," McDonald said. "We could still go down there then, but then they put us in lockdown. Luckily, he was already down there. It worked out well, and I thought, finally I've pulled the right rein.

"He should go all right I hope. He got the visitors' draw, I wish he'd got in closer, but he's coming out a lot better now, and down at Menangle, I don't think it will worry him too much.

"Hopefully he can get across and lead and see if anything is good enough to come off his back."

McDonald said Master Catch, a winner of $113,513 in stakes, was racing better after the addition of a blind, which was helping to keep his head straight while pacing. The high-striding Master Catch had been racing erratically and striking himself above the knee.

"We've got his head straightened a bit more and Jack Trainor is on fire down there so hopefully he can improve him a couple of seconds, and he should be winning," she said.
