Grocery shoppers were shocked at Cameron Park Plaza on Sunday morning, with police tape and shattered glass on the scene.
Police said a man drove a forklift through the glass door of the shopping centre, before using it to steal an ATM and drive away, about 1.40am on Sunday.
Later on Sunday morning, officers located the remnants of an ATM at a nearby construction site and the forklift was found in nearby bushland. It was unclear how much cash was stolen in the ram raid.
Two crime scenes were established and examined by specialist forensic police.
As an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident continues, police are appealing for anyone who may have information to come forward.
