Newcastle's three Challenger Series surfers will now move onto the next phase of world-tour qualification in Europe following the US Open with Philippa Anderson and Sarah Baum both collecting 3500 points.

Merewether's Anderson and Redhead-based Baum were each eliminated in the round of 16 at California's Huntington Beach over the weekend.
Anderson and Baum recorded ninth-placed finishes in the women's competition, which wraps up Monday (AEST).
In one-on-one battles, Anderson (11.57) was beaten by Courtney Conlogue (13.00) while Baum (7.27) went down to Coco Ho (10.67).
According to World Surf League rankings, Anderson and Baum entered the four-part Challenger Series sitting equal 23rd and outright 22nd respectively.
A single QS performance from the last two seasons was already listed.
Anderson (2500) was a quarter-finalist (fifth) at the Corona Open in China in January, 2020, while Baum (3000) took out last year's Central Coast Pro.
In the men's draw, Merewether's Jackson Baker (2000) had a share of 46th courtesy of a fifth-round exit at last year's Sydney Surf Pro.
The next two legs of the Challenger Series take place in Portugal and France throughout October. The final stop is Hawaii from November 25.
