A police officer was in a serious condition in John Hunter Hospital on Monday night after a motorcycle crash in Lake Macquarie.

Emergency services were called to Mandalong Road near Deaves Road, Mandalong, after a crash between two motorcycles about 4.40pm.
NSW police said in a statement on Monday night that a critical incident investigation had been launched.
A 36-year-old on-duty senior constable, who had been riding a a marked NSW Police Force motorcycle, was in a serious but stable condition on Monday night after colliding with a a 69-year-old man, who also suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
A crime scene was established by officers from Lake Macquarie Police District.
A critical incident team from the Tuggerah Lakes Police District will investigate the incident.
