The ready to drink product was launched this month, with a four-pack of 200ml cans (8% alcohol) selling for $34.99 at Liquorland, Vintage Cellar and independent bottle shops.
The final cocktail product blend uses specialty-grade medium and light roast coffee from Colombia and Ethiopia, and is charged with nitrogen. Given a good shake, it pours like a classic Espresso Martini, complete with a smooth, foamy head.
The cocktail is made using top-grade arabica coffee, pure Australian vodka, and a splash of Mr Black Coffee Liqueur.
Mr Black Roasters & Distillers was founded in 2013 by awarded-distiller Philip Moore and designer-turned-coffee-snob Tom Baker. Mr Black Coffee Liqueur has become one of the highest selling Australian craft spirits, claiming top sales in Australian coffee liqueur, and super-premium and fastest-growing coffee spirit in the USA.
"Over the last eight years we've earned our reputation as one of the top producers of coffee liqueur in the world," Baker says. "Whatever came after Mr Black had to live up to that. This isn't your normal cocktail in a can - the Mr Black Espresso Martini is jammed full of delicious specialty grade coffees, vodka and Mr Black - just like you'd find in a top cocktail bar."
