The Jets struggled in the front third last season, netting a league low 24 goals.

Roy O'Donovan (six goals) and Valentino Yuel (four) were the only players to bag more than two.

O'Donovan was not re-signed and has been replaced by Georgian international Beka Mikeltadze.

Though confident Mikeltadze will score goals, Papas is after an even spread, especially among the imports - Mikeltadze, Savvas Siatravanis, Olivier Boumal, Daniel Penha, Mario Arques.

"My main thing is to create as many possibilities for players to score goals. That is key," Pappas said. "We don't want to rely on one player to score goals. We want a group of players who can contribute with goals and play the type of football we want to play.

"I think we have players who have shown they score goals in the teams they have played for. Hopefully they can do that for us."

Siatravanis can play anywhere in the front third and, although not prolific, he has regularly netted goals.

"Savvas is a natural goal-scorer," Papas said. "He understands space really well and has that little bit of smarts about him.

"Throughout his career, he has been scoring his quota of goals every year.

"Whether it is creating goals himself or being in the right place at the right time, which is a skill in itself, he has that in him because he reads the game really well."

Siatravanis, who also had interest from Melbourne Victory, had played his entire career in Greece up until now.

"He is at the age where he wanted to try something different," Papas said of the 28-year-old. "He has been a really good player in those leagues for a while now.

"By coming here, it opens up a new door. It is Australia at the moment but it is Asia in general. If he does well, he knows there are opportunities beyond that possible."

Siatravanis will be joined by his wife and two children once their visas are approved and travel restrictions are opened.

He is one of three players alongside Mikeltadze and former Socceroo Matt Jurman to join the Jets from Greek second division club Xanthi.

"They had a very strong team last year with a lot of international players and just missed out on promotion," Papas said. "Victory signed the keeper Ivan Kelava from there.

"There is a lot of quality all around those leagues. You hope you get the right character and they fit in.

"Savvas is mature, hard working and has fitted in well with the group.

"The game over there is possibly slower but there is more to the tactical side of it. We play a little differently here.

"Overall, we are still playing the same game. The game is not that complicated. If you have clear principles and clear ways of training, most players can adapt."
