Mr Grant will face a judge-alone trial in Newcastle District Court next week focusing on any medical issues he may have been suffering at the time of the hit-and-run and whether the driving was "voluntary'. Kenneth Grant, a 71-year-old retired police officer, is accused of running down scientist Tony Greenfield on Flat Road, Bolwarra between 11.20pm and 11.30pm on November 30, 2019. Less than 10 minutes later he is accused of leading police on a pursuit along Belmore Road at Lorn and was allegedly driving with two flat tyres as he fled the scene of the fatal crash.
The trial will begin on Monday with much of the details about the crash not expected to be in dispute.
