Three In Heaven has gate one in the first of two 3YO colts and geldings heats. He has been second and fourth at Newcastle since coming to Goadsby and will hunt a top-two finish to make the final. Pops Boy is favourite.
"The first week he had every chance but we always thought he would need the run," Goadsby said. "Last week there was a fair bit of pressure, so we decided to let one go and he couldn't get out late. In a small field, he'll get his chance and we'll drive him aggressively this week."
The final will be held on Newcastle's December 5 Inter Dominion program.
Goadsby also has Peaksart in to make up the field in the other heat, where Rod Atkins' Sunshine Pepper and Mitch Chapple's Roclea Ruler looks toughest to beat.
"He's way outclassed there, Goadsby said of his horse.
"Mitch's horse and Rod's are a cut above there."
Also on the program, Goadsby has Give Me A Minute and La La Bron in the sixth, and A Gift From Heaven in the third.
"Give Me A Minute, he's back in grade after racing at Menangle, and we'll drive him positively as well and go forward," he said.
"La La Bron is in foal and coming to the end of her career, but she's always honest.
"A Gift From Heaven, he's drawn bad but he's run at Menangle was good as well."
