A truck driver has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after his semi trailer collided with a tree at Muswellbrook on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services including police, ambulance and fire were called to Maitland Street about 3.30am after the truck crashed into the tree, trapping the male driver.
The man was stuck for an extended period, with firefighters and paramedics working together to free the man.
Three paramedic crews including a critical care team were called to the scene and helped assess the patient. He suffered chest injuries, leg injuries and lacerations.
The driver - believed to be aged in his 60s - was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
Fire crews were on scene for several hours assisting with recovery and clean up.
