Both sides had comfortable victories over Central Coast Rush and Hunter Thoroughbreds.
Wivell provided the highlight of the day, blasting 84 off 37 balls for Newcastle against Hunter. The Wests opener hit seven sixes and eight fours to take Newcastle to 1-110 in just 10.1 overs, chasing 105.
Nick Foster (3-22) and Zac McGuigan (3-19) were the Blasters' best with the ball.
Wivell also hit 28 in 16 balls in Newcastle's win over Central Coast.
The Blasters made 5-126, with McGuigan top-scoring with 34 off 22 balls. He then claimed 2-18 as the Rush were kept to 9-102.
Stockton batsman Goninan also punished the Hunter attack on the day, hitting six sixes in his 72 off 33 balls as Lake Mac scored 6-225. Hunter made 5-130 in replay thanks to 83 from Zac Gayfer.
Goninan top-scored again in Lake Mac's win over the Rush, making 27. The Attack reached 4-71 (12.3 overs) in reply to Central Coast's 70 (17.1 overs). Brendon Charlton scored 20 not out and took 3-11 for Lake Mac.
Newcastle and Lake Mac face off next Sunday at Lynn Oval. Hunter and Central Coast play at King Park, Raymond Terrace.
