It was one of 32 successful auctions in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie region in the past week, according to CoreLogic.
The clearance rate for the week was 72.7 per cent, based on a total of 44 auctions.
A Maitland East-based buyer beat out two other registered bidders to secure the property at 54 Sheridan Avenue for $2,055,000, selling agent George Rafty of Newcastle First National said.
The buyer, "like most who saw it" had "fallen in love with the property," Mr Rafty said.
The four-bedroom, two-bathroom house had been marketed with a guide of between $1.85 million and $1.95 million.
It had recently been renovated by vendors Rebecca Phillips and Phil Randall.
Features included a treetop utility room, in-ground swimming pool and a television that drops down from the ceiling and can swivel to different angles.
The biggest transaction in Adamstown Heights this year was the sale of 158 Princeton Avenue, which sold for $2.5 million in July, setting a new suburb record in the process.
In Hamilton, a "gun barrel" house - wherein rooms are directly connected, without hallways - at 146 Lawson Street sold for $1.13 million at auction.
There were three registered bidders for the property, two from the Central Coast and one local buyer, and it was one of the Central Coast buyers who landed the decisive bid.
Mr Rafty, the selling agent, said Newcastle was becoming an increasingly popular market with Central Coast buyers, due in part to the rising unaffordability in that market and the local school options in Newcastle.
The property, which had a reserve of $980,000, had been used as an investment by the vendors and while in a "very liveable" condition, would benefit from a makeover, Mr Rafty said.
Speaking of makeovers, a "renovator's delight" at 54 Nile Street in Mayfield sold for $705,000 at auction over the weekend.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom property attracted eight bidders and sold to investors who plan to renovate.
A 10,600 square metre block at 231 Lake Road in Glendale also sold at auction last week, fetching $1.16 million.
It currently plays host to a three-bedroom brick built home, with swimming pool, which the new owners will likely renovate, selling agent Max Angwin of Belle Property Lake Macquarie said.
The new owner, who was the sole bidder, was a "lifestyle" buyer who would use the block for their horses, Mr Angwin said.
In Speers Point a four-bedroom house at 65 Berkeley Street sold to local buyers for $1.25 million - "a good $150,000" above vendor expectations, according to selling agent Cameron Stevenson of LJ Hooker Warners Bay.
The buyers plan to embark on a knockdown/rebuild project, according to Mr Stevenson, and take advantage of the block's lake views.
Another of Mr Stevenson's listings at 21 Chalmers Road, Wallsend also sold under the hammer last week, fetching $856,000.
The property, which can be converted to incorporate a self-contained one bedroom apartment, had been popular with those needing to accommodate multi-generational living arrangements.
Interest throughout the campaign had been in the low $800,000 mark, Mr Stevenson said.
