Pearson (13-6) has openly stating that he hates Sotiropoulos (14-4) and will be fighting emotionally for the first time in his career when he enters the ring with the Melbourne BJJ specialist in December.

But the Australian remains unfazed.

"It's what I expect from Ross," Sotiropoulos said in a conference call with Pearson on Thursday.

"Competing against each other and fighting each other, that's how people have got to look at you when people are fighting, that's how they see you.

"And Ross being the type of guy he is, that's exactly what I expect to come out of his mouth.

"He's a British fighter and most British fighters are pretty boisterous and loud and talk a lot of shit.

"I'm focused on what I have got to do to win and I'm not really taking notice of anything he is saying."

Following the completion of TUF Smashes, Pearson and Sotiropoulos will headline UFC on FX6 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on December 15.

Featuring two teams of fighters from Australia and Britain battling for a UFC contract, TUF Smashes, has notoriously been described as the "craziest season of The Ultimate Fighter" ever filmed by UFC president Dana White.

The growing animosity between the two coaches has been a feature of the series, which Pearson puts down to the "unprofessional" behaviour of Sotiropoulos.

"The way he acted and the way he handled things was completely different to the way I would have handled things and the way I would have reacted to things," Pearson said of Sotiropoulos's behaviour on the show.

"I tweeted the other day I felt sorry for Xavier [Lucas] when he had to fight Bradley [Scott], I felt Xavier went in there blind, he was looking for a game plan which he didn't have. He just looked static and he looked lost in there.

"And some of the unprofessional comments coming from George's corner were 'Again, again! Harder, faster!'. That's not the professional level we are fighting at. These aren't the comments or advice you should be giving to a fighter at this level."

Pearson says he is proud of Sotiropoulos's characterisation of him as a "typical British fighter" who is loud and boisterous.

But he is not convinced that his bout with the Victorian is an Ashes battle on the scale of a typical England v Australia sporting clash.

"Australia versus England is the TUF Smashes, that's the lightweight competition and the welterweight competition, me and George aren't fighting for England versus Australia, me and George are fighting each other," Pearson said.

"It's not a world war, it's not a political thing. It's me versus George fighting mixed martial arts.

"To me I don't see it as I am going in to fight an Australian in Australia, that doesn't bother me, what bothers me is me getting prepared for George's skills."

Sotiropoulos dismissed Pearson's criticism of his coaching techniques, saying the Brit had no idea what tactics were nutted out behind closed doors with his fighters.

But he did buy into the December fight's billing as the headline event of a Australia versus Britain sporting clash.

"Because the whole fight has been built up off that show, it's still country versus country and that's how fans are going to see it, we both represented our country on the show and that's the build up to the fight," he said.

"But at the end of the day, when that door closes it's just us two."

Having twice fought in the UFC Octagon on home soil Sotiropoulos is expecting a rowdy Queensland crowd in a venue much smaller than Acer Arena.

He is looking forward to having a home crowd behind him in December.

"There's a lot of support and you feel a lot of positive energy from the fans, you feel very loved," he says of fighting at home.

"That's what I feel every time I fight in Australia."

UFC on FX6 will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on December 15.
