Photos prove I-Fish TV's Paul Worsteling wasn't exaggerating the size of the King George whiting he caught at Smithton this weekend. The Victorian set out with his wife Cristy, son Jet and Smithton's Jamie Harris with only their light fishing gear. "A whiting over a kilo is what people aim for. It would be lucky if 1 in 1000 people had caught one that big," Mr Worsteling said. He said his goal of catching a single 60cm King George whiting was blown out of the water, with the haul of more than 20 fish caught. About seven of those clocked the "magical one kilogram mark". "That is mindblowing. We were literally pinching ourselves." Mr Worsteling said he had been trying to get to the Smithton spot for two years, but had to cancel flights with the trip reliant on perfect weather. "Smithton is home to the biggest King George whiting in the world in my opinion." Mr Worsting thanked the local knowledge and support from Smithton fisherman, Tall Timbers and Tackle World Burnie.
