The 22-year-old, who become the Hunter’s latest reality TV winner, and his beauty, Millie Lincoln, 18, were named the smartest geek and brightest beauty in the series finale of the Seven Network program.
As well as claiming the major prize, Oldfield has also found love - but his new girlfriend is not Lincoln.
He switched from being single to ‘‘in a relationship’’ about two months ago and says his new romance has nothing to do with being on the show.
‘‘I’ve been dating someone for two months now,’’ he said.
‘‘It would have happened anyway.’’
The pair said appearing on the popular dating reality series was a lot like being on Big Brother. During the two-month filming, the 10 beauties and 10 geeks were cut off from the outside world and denied access to everyday luxuries.
Oldfield admits some of the beauties struggled with being isolated and unable to communicate with family and friends.
‘‘There was no TV, radio or internet. I was OK with it, but I think some of the beauties struggled with it,’’ he said.
