In a tour presented by A Day On The Green, the former Cold Chisel frontman will be backed by The Living End, Baby Animals, daughter Mahalia Barnes and Nick Barker when he performs at Bimbadgen Estate on November 8.
When Barnes played at the same venue in February, all 8000 tickets sold out within hours, so promoters have advised fans to get in quickly when tickets go on sale at 9am on July 18.
To coincide with the tour Barnes says he’s ‘‘kicked some new life’’ into 15 of his classic songs by re-recording them with artists like John Farnham, Tina Arena and Keith Urban.
The first single from the 30/30 Anniversary compilation is a rendition of Lay Down Your Guns with Aussie rockers The Living End, released today.
Speaking to the Herald, Barnes said he was looking forward to playing in Newcastle again.
‘‘We [Cold Chisel] grew up and we played every weekend in Newcastle as a young band,’’ he said.
