Over his extensive career, the septuagenarian has chalked up sales of more than 120 million, thanks to hits including 1978's The Gambler, his Islands in the Stream duet with Dolly Parton, as well as Lucille, Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town, She Believes in Me, and Daytime Lovers.
He's also notched up three Grammy Awards, 18 American Music Awards and eight Academy of Country Music Awards.
This year Rogers was inducted into the American Country Music Hall of Fame.
The singer was last in Newcastle in August 2012 when he played a hit-filled set at Newcastle Entertainment Centre and he has since released his 32nd studio album, 2013's You Can't Make Old Friends, which included a reunion with Parton and The Gambler songwriter Don Schlitz.
Rogers will bring his Through The Years World Tour to Newcastle Entertainment Centre on January 28 with support from Australian country music singers Adam Harvey and Beccy Cole.
