Hunter Sports High's Phoenix Crossland, Kyle Schneider and Matthew Smith will be joined by Tom Baker (Singleton) and Ross Haidle (Callaghan College Wallsend).
The boys were members of the Northern side that beat Western and Southern before going down to Sydney Gold.
In the under-18 division the Northern team won their opening match but suffered defeats on the next two days.
■ Hunter will be represented at the NSW CHS Australian football championships in Sydney this week.
A combined Northern NSW side will feature players from the North, Sydney North and Hunter teams that competed in the Exchange at Nelson Bay in May.
Parker Minns (Whitebridge), Lucas Borrow (Cardiff), Brandt Job (Maitland Grossmann) and Luke Rymer (Tomaree) are in the squad to take on Combined Catholic Colleges Southern and Combined Independent Schools on Tuesday.
■ Reid Bourke (Chatham) and Lachlan Rinkin (Lambton) were chosen in the NSW CHS boys' hockey team after the state championships in Bathurst last week. They were members of the Hunter side that finished eighth.
■ Large numbers were at the Diocesan's primary school rugby union trials last week.
Close to 80 students tried out for the Newcastle-Maitland team which heads to Forbes later in the month.
Among the 20-player squad selected were St Columban's Mayfield pair Macauley Aoake and Molou Taufaao along with Ethan McLoughlin from St Catherine's Singleton.
■ Several secondary students from the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese have been named in NSW Combined Catholic College teams.
In basketball, Rachel Williams (All Saint's College, St Mary's Maitland), Cassidy McLean (St Paul's Booragul) and Jacob Foy (San Clemente Mayfield) were named in their respective open divisions.
In rugby league, Brock Gardner (St Paul's Booragul), Jock Madden (St Joseph's Aberdeen) and Tyran Ott (St Peter's Maitland) were named in the U16 NSWCCC team.
Jayden Butterfield (St Mary's Maitland), Kurtis Dark (St Clare's Taree), Brodie Jones (St Mary's Maitland) and Maxwell King (St Mary's Maitland) were named in the open NSWCCC team.
In rugby, Daniel Malloy (St Catherine's Singleton) and Thomas Newman (St Francis Xavier's Hamilton) are in the NSWCCC team.
