Bridging the gap between rhythm and blues, rock'n'roll and pop music, James enjoyed a 57-year career that included six Grammy Awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and places in the rock'n'roll, blues and Grammy halls of fame.
James influenced artists from Diana Ross, Janis Joplin and Stevie Wonder to the Rolling Stones and Rod Stewart, and inspired a new generation of singers including Christina Aguilera, Joss Stone, Adele and Amy Winehouse.
James died in 2012 at the age of 73, and now her life and songs have been turned into At Last, starring soul singer Vika Bull in the title role.
At Last showcases the depth and range of Bull's soulful, gutsy voice as she belts out James' best-loved songs, including Tell Mama, Something's Got A Hold On Me, Pushover, I'd Rather Go Blind and her iconic signature song At Last, with the songs punctuated by an intimate telling of James' tumultuous life.
Backed by an eight-piece R&B band, Bull stars in At Last - The Etta James Story at Lizotte's Newcastle, Lambton, on Thursday, July 16. To book phone 4956 2066.
