The Australian teenager, who once called Port Macquarie home, has exploded into the public music arena with her tantalising song My Own Way hitting the airwaves on Triple J and backed by a chilled-out video featuring images of her skateboarding and surfing.
My Own Way is an easy, dreamer's surfie song with a great hook that's been touched up with a pop vibe.
Under the wing of TAP Management, which also manages Angus and Julia Stone and Lana Del Rey, Alexander is a star in development. She has just returned from the US West Coast where she did a live session for Snapchat's Discover channel in Venice and cut a solo acoustic video of My Own Way for Noisey Acoustics in Topanga Canyon. Her Instagram account featured shots from California, hanging at beaches and with pro American skateboarder Zach Miller.
A bio on Primary Talent International says Alexander was born in Brisbane, raised in Port Macquarie and spent considerable time between Byron Bay and Sydney.
Alexander paid her dues by playing the Beach House and The Pier at Port Macquarie as a 15-year-old. She released a six-song EP, Lion Hat, two years ago, recorded with Jordan Millar in Sydney.
In her sparse press history, she indicated an affection for Angus and Julia Stone, and Fleetwood Mac. If she can land somewhere between those legends, she'll be doing fine.
