Wainwright announced the show on Thursday as part of her 12-date Australian tour, which includes twilight shows at Taronga and Melbourne Zoos.
In 2013 Wainwright played two dates at the Lambton theatre to rave reviews. This latest tour will support her first new album in four years, Goodnight City, which will be released on Friday.
Wainwright comes from one of North American folk’s most famous families. Her father is American folk singer and actor Loudon Wainwright III and her mother is Canadian folk singer-songwriter Kate McGarrigle. Brother Rufus Wainwright has also enjoyed worldwide success in music.
