Residents of the ‘red zone’ have expressed disbelief, after they were given three days notice of community consultation sessions to discuss a major epidemiological study for Williamtown.

The Department of Defence circulated an email on Monday evening inviting residents to the two sessions, that will be held at Newcastle Airport during business hours on Friday.
The presentations will allow researchers from the Australian National University to outline the reasons for the health study and the proposed research design.
“We find it unbelievable that we are given barely any notice to organise attendance at this extremely important meeting,” President of the Williamtown and Surrounds Residents Action Group Cain Gorfine said.
“It is also being held during work hours and while that might suit government employees, it does little for hard working Australians.”
A community meeting last year was organised on Census night a half-hour’s drive away from Williamtown.
