Party is Harding’s second album and marks a significant leap. Harding’s ability to twist her voice into various characters provides Party with a bewitching, almost ancient quality. Her music is described as goth-folk, but there’s a lightness too. The title track sounds like Nico in her Velvet Underground prime and Imagining My Man shows Harding is expanding beyond her folk roots. Party is a deeply moving and rewarding listen.
