Apartment Living: DA approved for new Hunter Street complex listed for sale

Selling agent Brent Sinclair is marketing the 1416 square metre site at 990 Hunter Street, Newcastle West through an expressions of interest campaign and said the DA approved development comprised a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom apartments over 12 levels. There will also be three ground floor commercial spaces.

“The design takes full advantage of the magnificent views, with a mix of apartments that will attract strong interest from apartment buyers who wish to take advantage of the vibrant city living that has resulted from the revitalisation of Newcastle,” Mr Sinclair said.

“So close to the transport interchange, this provides direct, easy access to all the city has to offer.”

Ben Robinson of Robinson Property believes a $655,000 sale for a one-bedroom apartment in Honeysuckle’s Lee Wharf waterfront complex has set a new price record that “will remain for a while”.

Mr Robinson sold 203/7 Honeysuckle Drive last month. He said the key selling point was “a really good floor plan”.

“A one-bedder on the waterfront normally sells somewhere in the 500,000s,” Mr Robinson said.

“This one was 63 square metres, which is larger than average, and went north to south. 

“A lot of those one-bedroom apartments only have one aspect. Plus it is in a boutique building.”

The property was sought after between two buyers with the eventual purchaser being local and securing the second-floor property with harbour views as an investment.

First National Newcastle City are marketing the second stage of Centrale Broadmeadow and selling agent Luke Murdoch said strong interest was coming from owner-occupiers and first home buyers.

Over half of the two-stage development has already been sold.

It is the latest project by local developer GWH Build and a key feature of the 39-apartment complex will be an undercover rooftop terrace and entertainment area.

“A big drawcard is the fact that from Broadmeadow the city is quite accessible and it’s close enough to walk to the train station without traffic and parking issues,” Mr Murdoch said.

“This is the first building of some urban renewal happening through the Brunker Road corridor and the state government has  a clear vision for Broadmewadow to become a Hunter sport and entertainment precinct.”

There is only one-bedroom apartment remaining in the complex and 18 two-bedroom residences, which all have two bathrooms plus a car space and storage.

The price range for the two-bedroom apartments are $519,000 to $620,000. 

The one-bedroom is $460,000.
