Unfortunately it’s mostly a butcher’s job. Some of the worst offenders are the big-name acts. Amity Affliction’s Tomorrow is horrendously auto-tuned and In Hearts Wake’s cover of Freak is a whiny industrial rock mess.
Tonight Alive give a reasonable account of Without You thanks to Jenna McDougall’s vocal. The only other saving graces are Storm The Sky and The Brave who provide unnerving renditions of Emotion Sickness and Cemetery. You can’t expect the tribute to surpass the original, but Silverchair deserved much better.
