Such is the strength of the local league the majority of the Northern NSW team consisted of students from the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese. Jock Madden and Timanu Alexander from All Saints College Maitland and Mitchell Black from St Clare’s Taree played strongly to be named in the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges under-18 team, while Jonah Pexet from St Mary’s Gateshead was named player of the match and in the NSWCCC 15s team.
There were six students selected in the 15s Country Tour Rep team and they included Taj Ridley from All Saints College, Riley Cullen from St Paul’s Booragul, Billy McNickle and Sean walker from St Joseph’s Lochinvar, Macauley Aoake from San Clemente Mayfield and Cruze Cook from St Mary’s Gateshead.
The senior Diocesan Football Knockout was held at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Speers Point.
Congratulations in the girls to St Francis Xavier’s College Hamilton who defeated All Saints College 3-1 and in the boys to St Paul’s College Booragul who won their division. Both St Paul’s will now meet St Augustine’s College, Brookvale and SFX will meet St Joseph’s College, East Gosford.
The 2018 NSW CCC Girls Basketball trials were held at Hills Basketball stadium. Jessica Relf from St Clare’s Taree and Rosanna Jennings from SFX Hamilton trialled well to make the NSWCCC team.
In the boys Alexander Clinton and Ethan Dawber made the NSWCCC team.
