Donna Ireland is a long-time lover of Grand Designs.
So, there were some grand ideas when she and husband Kent set about renovating a “70s style” Kevin Snell-designed home set on 1.7 acres of bushland adjacent to Glenrock State Conservation Area in Adamstown Heights.
They took the 1978 residence at 18A Hillcrest Parade from three bedrooms to five and into the 21st century with the result a luxurious, spacious and tranquil retreat only 10 minutes from the city.
A stone wall, extending to the high ceilings, is one of the many features of the home, as well as an emphasis on marble, timber and glass.
“I have watched Grand Designs for 25 years and I have always admired that beautiful rock wall – to me it’s like a luxury accessory in a home,” Donna said.
Driving down the driveway has been like driving into “our own private retreat”.
“It’s quite unique, you don’t often find that amount of land [so close to the city],” Donna said.
“And the house lives so beautifully.”
There is multiple living spaces, soaring ceilings and underfloor heating.
One of the three bathrooms has a black double terrazzo bath which looks out through a large glass window to nature.
The main living space extends effortlessly to a stone-tiled inground saltwater pool.
The fully fenced property has direct access to the Fernleigh track.
It is open for the first time today from 10am to 10.30am and being sold through an expressions of interest campaign.
It is being marketed by Joanna Cook and Scott Purnell of Dalton Partners.
